"Mesa"

Mesa's history dates back 2,000 years to its first residents - the Hohokam who built a canal system spanning 125 miles. That canal system is still in use today. Modern Mesa is major metropolitan area near many attractions, restaurants and shopping.

Apache Lake is a popular site for boating, fishing, water skiing, hiking and camping. Formed by Horse Mesa Dam, the lake is the second largest of the Salt River Project lakes. It is located off of the Apache Trail/Highway 88.

Mesa is Arizona's third largest city and continues to grow each day. But, despite all of the growth, Mesa's link to the past remains strong. Eight historic districts are within the city limits. Of those eight districts, four are listed to the National Register of Historic Places.

Not far from Mesa is the town of Fountain Hills. The town is noted for having one of the "World's Highest Fountains" which sends a stream of water 560 feet into the air.
